IDEO.org, a non-profit spin-off of acclaimed design agency IDEO, utilizes human-centered design to solve the world's poverty-related problems. They send selected fellows abroad to work with communities and organizations to create real solutions in water/sanitation, agriculture, health and other areas. The IDEO.org site is a home for information about the organization as well as a portfolio that tracks real-time progress on their various initiatives.

Projects in the field are regularly updated with stories discussing progress, a task that needs to be simplified because of the potentially slow & spotty remote internet connections. To that end, content for IDEO.org comes from both its own CMS and from OpenHCD, another project centered on using design in world improving ways, balancing the goals of minimizing administration headaches and providing content update flexibility.
