Pluto Dazzles in False Color

Here’s a peek at our upcoming events for August. We’ll update this post as new things are added, but these are all listed on our events calendar as well. Most descriptions are from the events’ respective sites.

PAX Dev 2015 – August 26-27
Taking place right before PAX Prime, we’ve dedicated two days to the developer community for the craft that is game making. PAX Dev is about elevating the art and creating place to share, debate and learn. With no press access, developers can speak freely and focus entirely on their trade in a safe and comfortable environment.

PAX Prime 2015 – August 28-31
In 2004, the folks at Penny Arcade decided they wanted a show exclusively for gaming. Sure, comics, anime, and other nerd hobbies were cool, and those activities all had their own shows… so what about games? Since then, PAX has come to represent some of the largest gaming events in North America!

Other Meetups:
Seattle.rb Monthly Meetup – August 4
Seattle.rb was the first Ruby and Rails user group in North America and has met regularly for over a decade. We convene every Tuesday night to contribute to open source, work on personal projects, and teach and learn from one another. All skill levels are welcome!

Beer&&Code– August 5, & 19
Beer&&Code is a coder’s meetup in Seattle. A typical Beer&&Coder likes to use any programming language for work or for fun, enjoy a tasty drink, meet other Beer&&Coders and be a part of a community, and be challenged and learn from others. Whether you are new developer, a veteran, a designer, or none of those, you can hang out at Beer&&Code.

UX Book Club – August 4
Join us for monthly book discussions with professionals and students looking to share their passion and knowledge of UX, IA, UI, IxD, etc. Each month, we vote on a book. You don’t have to read to attend – just come with an open mind and an interest in the subject, ready to mingle! We are also open to discussion suggestions and presentations by members related to their own UX research, writing, and professional expertise.

Design Thinking & Innovation Collective – August 27
Seattle Design Thinking & Innovation Collective aims to bring people together from a wide variety of industries, backgrounds and roles to collaborate and discuss practices, methodologies, tactics and experiences to help us collectively bring innovative ideas to the world.
