Universal Pops by A Beginning

Here’s a peek at our upcoming events for January. We’ll update this post as new things are added, but these are all listed on our events calendar as well. Most descriptions are from the events’ respective sites.

AIGA: Design is Design. A talk on the creative process – January 14

Designers love to talk about process. As if there’s a process to do what we do. In this talk, Matt Conway (creative director at frog design) will make a case that designers should put as much design thinking into how we approach our work as we do for the work itself. There is no (great) cookie cutter process for the same reason as there is no (great) cookie cutter product. Talk begins at 6:30.

Girl Develop It: Intro to Git and Github – January 29 & February 5

Ever make changes that broke your code and forgot how it was working before? Want to work together with someone on a code project, but aren’t sure who has the latest version of a particular file? Version control can solve these and other problems! Git is a popular version control application that can track your code changes, as well as help you to be more methodical in your programming. Win-win! This session will introduce the basics of version control, how to use git to keep track of your changes to a project, and using GitHub (a hosting service) to collaborate with other developers.
