We’re excited about the new year so for the month of January we’re posting a series of all manner of things that motivate and inspire us.
Today in the series it's another tale of how one of our developers got started with programming. This time it was by way of the procedural language Turbo Pascal (along with BASIC, the universal programming start). Is the next generation of developers going to have stories like this about Rails?
My uncle gave me Turbo Pascal and a bunch of his college exercises for it on 3.5" floppies. That's what got me started. From there it was off to Borders or whatever the bookstore of choice was to get C++ for dummies. The rest was history. Oh, I also had one of these before then, so I guess I started with BASIC as well.
